Education

Senior Biology Major at Bucknell University, Pre-Med, and studying Physics 1 and 2 at CU-Boulder for the summer.

Experience

Peer Writing Consultant Tutor at Bucknell University Writing Center for 3 years, Summer camp counselor for 5 years at 2 different camps, Private tutor for Biology and General Chemistry at Bucknell University Scored a 4 on AP US history, a 4 on AP European History, and a 29 on my ACT (99th percentile on writing section). I have been a tutor for well over four years now, and I have found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience. I enjoy teaching students both writing and science, and I feel I have a lot to offer students in both these areas. As a peer writing consultant, I took a class specially designed to teach me to become a successful tutor. This included one-on-one tutor sessions in the presence of a professor, as well as tutor sessions outside of the classroom. I learned how to work with both students for whom English was their first language, as well as students for whom English is a second language. As a science major, with a Pre-Med focus, I have taken 8 college Biology courses (4 upper level and 4 lower level), Mathematical Statistics (more advanced than Psych Stat or Business Stat), I have taken Psychology courses, as well as 2 courses on education ("Social Foundations of Education" and "Educational Psychology"). I have also taken General Chemistry 1 and 2, as well as Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and hope to graduate with distinction next year. I am also fluent in Hebrew, as I used to live in Israel when I was a child, and I am a former Division-I baseball player. In addition to my tutoring, I have helped coach and train a significant amount of young baseball players aspiring to become college players themselves one day. I have also worked as an intern with numerous sports programs and professional franchises as both a student trainer and as an assistant to doctors.

Hobbies

I love getting outside, whether it is for sports, mountain hiking, climbing, biking etc. As mentioned above, I am former D-I baseball player and baseball has always been a passion of mine. I love learning new things, and often find myself surfing the web for interesting articles and new facts. I am especially fascinated by the sciences, which is what led me to become a Biology major. In addition to my love of science and baseball, I am a huge sports fan and hope to specialize in Sports Medicine one day. I myself have ADD, and I was diagnosed from a very early age. This has been incredibly helpful when working with students that have trouble focusing (either because of similar problems such as ADHD or because of Dyslexia's). I have learned to work hard to reach my goals in life, and work on a very organized and somewhat busy schedule. Nonetheless, I still find time to enjoy the little things in life.
